WHO delivers 16 CT scan machines to assist Islamic Republic of Iran combat COVID-19

Tehran, 21 July 2020 – The World Health Organization (WHO) has delivered 16 CT scan machines to strengthen Islamic Republic of Iran’s emergency response to COVID-19.

CT scanning is a key component of clinical diagnosis of COVID-19 patients. The units, worth more than US$ 4 million, were procured by WHO through support from the governments of Japan and Kuwait.

“Internationalization and How to Apply for International Grants” Workshop

Online workshop, Internationalization and How to Apply for International Grants, was held on 16 September 2020 by KMU directorate for international affairs with collaboration of the secretariat of WHOCCs in Iran and network of international research centers (NIRC) to enhance the international communication of Kerman University of Medical Sciences and the research centers with the presence of more than 100 participants.

internationalization issues, international grants and how to achieve them were taught by Dr. Bagher AmirHeidari, Director of International Affairs of KMU, and Mahdiyeh Barjesteh, Senior Officer of International Relations.

7 July 2020‒ WHO/EMRO, held the Regional Webinar on Ethics of COVID-19 Research in EMR:  Governance, Regulations, Monitoring Mechanisms. 

The meeting was inaugurated by Dr Ahmed Mandil, Coordinator, Research and Innovation  of EMR office. 

Then, the meeting continued by a lecture by  Prof Amir Jafarey, Head of Centre of Biomedical Ethics and Culture, Karachi, Pakistan  on the   background of his center, Pakistan experience, proposed recommendations”.

The second speaker was Prof Bagher Larijani,  Director of  Center for Medical Ethics and History of Medicine Research Center, Iran, who provided the meeting audience with talks on Iran experience against Covid-19.
