The First Meeting of WHOCCs

The first meeting of WHOCCs was held, on 7, Jun 2014 at the central library of Iran University of Medical Sciences .
Dr.Hashemi,the ministry of health and medical education ,Dr Malekzadeh ,the vice-chancellor of research and technology of MOHME, Dr.Asadi Lari ,the manager of international affairs of MOHME ,and some of the high-level directors of World Helath Organization( WHO) from the centeral office of EMRO and the representative office of Iran attended the meeting to discuss and assess the procedure of developing the technological and scientific collaboration of research centers with WHO.
Dr. Asadi Lari stated 16 research centers of Iran confirmed by WHO are active now and 10 research centers applied to become WHOCCs.
According his speech, the aim of holding the meeting was to encourage WHOCCs and other research centers to become familiar with each other and also to direct them to collaborate with WHO.
The Second Meeting of WHOCCs

The second meeting of WHOCCs was held on 25th February 2015 to emphasize on WHO priority for preventing non-communicable diseases up to 2025 and Iran was committed to carry out/preform these priorities.
At the beginning of the meeting Dr. Malek Zadeh mentioned research centers inside the country need to pay more attention to do efficient activities and to avoid parallel ones
In the following, these items were discussed:
-The importance of sharing the experiences of the other centers
-holding regular meetings with research centers heads and universities ’s vice chancellors of centers and
-using the international collaboration experiences
-negotiation with heads of WHO and EMRO in order to take Iran‘s role more seriously
-internationalization is the responsibility of the heads and each faculty member of research centers
At the end of the meeting Dr. Malek Zadeh was appreciated because of the 4 decades of scientific efforts, and so were three collaborating centers evaluated based on the number of the international articles.
The Fourth Meeting of WHOCCs

The fourth meeting of WHOCCs was held in MOHME (Ministry of Health and Medical Education) on May 9, 2018.
Dr. Amirkhani, the Counselor of Vice Minister in International Affairs, began the meeting and stressed on the plans and expectations of MOHME of International Affairs Department. then, Dr. Mesgarpour, the Counselor of Vice-Minister for research and technology of MOHME, stated the goals and plans of the Office of research and technology.
Dr. AmirHeidari, Director of International Affairs of Kerman University of Medical sciences, mentioned a few points about the importance of secretariat activities and networking the internationalization.
After that the latest activities and achievements of the WHOCCs were discussed during the years of 2017 and 2018, and the members exchanged ideas.
Dr. Eshaghi, deputy of head of WHOCC and NIRC, summarized the main points of the meeting and ended the meeting with the hope of increasing the number of WHOCCs in the future.
The First Designation workshop

workshop was held on, on Saturday, July 28, 2018, with the presence of Kerman University of Medical Sciences' (KMU) research centers .
Dr. Roozbeh Bashar and Dr. Maryam Fazeli, from the Department of Research and References on Rabies, were present as lecturers.

Dr. Christoph Hamelmann traveled to Kerman to get familiar with the research, education and health activities of Kerman University of Medical
Sciences. In his first meeting with the Chancellor and Vice-chancellors of the University, he went on to learn about the KMU internationalization
activities and the activities of research centers including Leishmaniasis, Hydatid Cyst, Oral and Dental Diseases, Environmental Health Engineering,
HIV/HUB and the WHOCCs Secretariat in a two-hour meeting held in Pars Hotel in Kerman. The representative of the World Health Organization in
Iran expressed appreciation for the activities carried out by these research centers.
During his stay, he also visited the Maternity Facility Center in Zangiabad, Malayeri and Vahdat Health Services Centers for immigrants and
foreigners.
The Institute for Futures Studies in Health (IFSH) received Dr. Hamelmann on Wed. November 28 and the heads of the IFSH research centers as
well as KMU Think Tank introduced their centers and achievements.
In the afternoon, Dr. Hamelmann paid a visit to one of the KMU Drop-in-Centers and got familiar with Rostam project, being carried out by
HIV/HUB.
World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2019 - Kish Island, Iran

The World Health Summit is the annual conference of the M8 Alliance of Academic Health Centers, Universities and National Academies. Through the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) for Health, it is organized in collaboration with all National Academies of Medicine and Science.
The World Health Summit aims to improve health all over the planet, catalyzing that process through collaboration and open dialogue, and steering tomorrow’s agenda to improve research, education, healthcare, and policy outcomes.
It brings together researchers, physicians, key government officials, and representatives from industry as well as from NGOs and healthcare systems all over the world to address the most pressing issues facing every facet of healthcare and medicine in the upcoming decade and beyond.
Dr. Hamidreza Rashidinejad , the chancellor of Kerman University of Medical Sciences, as well as Dr. Bagher Amirheidari, the Chancellor Adviser and Director of International relations, also attended the meeting and had successful negotiations with international speakers to start scientific cooperation between Kerman University of Medical Sciences and their respective institutes.
The First Meeting of research centers

A meeting was held in the Ministry of Health and Medical Education (MOHME)'s Deputy of Research and Technology to encourage research centers
to be more active in the international arena and to strengthen their cooperation with WHO. The meeting was organized by the Secretariat of WHO
Collaborating Centers (WHOCCs) settled in Kerman University of Medical Sciences in cooperation with the Ministry of Health's Deputy of Research.
The aim of the meeting was to utilize the scientific capacity of the country's active research centers (taking the WHO criteria into account), so that
these centers can interact and cooperate effectively at the international level.
The Ministry of Health and Medical Education, with the goal of developing internationalization, emphasizes further interactions with WHO within the
framework of WHOCCs and carrying out the international research project
Increasing cooperation with international organizations, especially with WHO, in the fields of research, education and healthcare services helps to
solve the health problems of the country. This will contribute to the use of the international resources to promote the country's health goals and
priorities.
In order to expand and strengthen the international scientific relations with the international organizations, at the end of the meeting, it was agreed
that it is absolutely necessary to establish comprehensive programs and to perform constructive and positive roles in order to take actions towards
improving health standards in the country and the region.
The Fifth Meeting of WHOCCs
2.January.2019
The fifth meeting of WHOCCs hosted by tobacco prevention and control research center (TPCRC), WHO collaborating center on tobacco control in EMRO, convened at the Masih Daneshvari Hospital .
The aim of the meeting was to coordinate the WHOCCs in Iran and to decide about items placed on the fourth meeting in Muscat, Oman on 9-10 january2019.
DR. Rashidian explained the aims and agenda of Oman`s meeting, and answered some questions of the audience about attending the meeting. Then, each of the research centers expressed the challenges ,problems ,and obstacles on working with WHO, and discussed some of the issues with secretariat of WHOCCs in Iran and the representative of WHO.

international communication .
“How to collaborate with WHO and Internationalization priorities” workshop
8.December.2019
A workshop on “How to collaborate with WHO and Internationalization priorities”, arranged by the Secretariat of WHOCCs was held on 8 December 2019 in the Conference Hall of Ali Ebn Abi Taleb Hospital, Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences. Heads of research centers and the staff of international department also attended the meeting.
During this 4-hour workshop , necessities, priorities and obstacles of internationalization of universities , concepts ,and essential factors for collaborating with WHO, how to sign up in the EU site and get a PIC Number in order to get international grants were presented by Dr.AmirHeidari, Director of International Affairs of KMU, Dr.Eshaghi, Deputy Head of WHOCCs and NIRC, and Mahdiyeh Barjesteh, Senior Officer of International Relations.
“Internationalization and How to Apply for International Grants” workshop

Online workshop, Internationalization and How to Apply for International Grants, was held on 16 September 2020 by KMU directorate for international affairs with collaboration of the secretariat of WHOCCs in Iran and network of international research centers (NIRC) to enhance the international communication of Kerman University of Medical Sciences and the research centers with the presence of more than 100 participants.
